Egg-celent Weekend

Well, as you can tell from the pictures, Abby's 1st birthday party was Saturday. She had such a good time she ended up going to sleep before anyone left. But such is your right at your first party. I think Ty may have had more fun than even the kids. And I still can't believe she's a year old already.

When we got home, we got invited to go to my parents' house but we didn't go. Instead we had to clean up eggs from our carport. That's right, my friends--eggs. We got "egged." In broad daylight while we were home, no less. It's funny now, so go ahead and laugh, but at the time I nearly lost my mind. Thank God it poured rain right after we discovered it. We figure it was probably some of Wade's students because they aimed at his car. Somehow, they missed and got egg on the house roof, too. We counted about a dozen eggs. And I can tell you right now that eggs are gross when you have to clean them up. Now that I think about it more, we'll probably get rolled later in the year. Somehow that makes me feel old. Too bad Wade's vehicles are too unique to allow us to keep our anonymity. But I guess now we have the first egging story of anyone we know.

Every time you try to take my picture, I'll hide behind this balloon.
...Happy Birthday, dear Abby, Happy Birthday to you!
I'm supposed to do what? Are you sure?
Hmm...this is pretty fun!

I'm too tired to care about presents.
But wait! Mama, Look at this phone!
It makes fun noises!

Ty fills up the pool...
and later can't resist the slip-n-slide. How funny is this?!
Just hanging out in the pool.
Sorry, Abby, Madison doesn't go anywhere without that beloved balloon.

Let's try it together.
I think I'd rather get in the pool part, Daddy.
Ty added dish detergent for slipperiness and bubbles.Come on--it'll be fun!

Just because I like my pretty four o'clocks that don't bloom until 7:00.

Vote!

Today you should exercise your right to vote. Consider the fact that there are many people in this country (i.e. women and minorities) who remember what it's like to not be allowed to vote.

The world is moved not only by the mighty shoves of the heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker. --Helen Keller
